NRSP Travel Safety Campaign 2025

The Christmas and New Year festive periods are always characterized by high vehicular movement across the country for yuletide activities, ceremonies and other celebrations. These mass movements most often lead to high rate in road traffic crashes with colossal effects on both human and material resources. Identified as major causes of these crashes are behavioural risk factors such Over Speeding, Overloading, Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, Distracted driving (use of phone) and general ineptitude to traffic rules and regulation by both drivers and commuters.
The Nigerian Road Safety Partnership as a proactive partner and advocate of good road use culture and safety, introduced Travel Safety Campaign as a panacea to address these observed anomalies’ and to complement the enforcement strategies put in place by Federal Road Safety Corps. This noble approach has been identified as a vital and critical methods at saving lives during these festival periods and beyond.
AREA OF COVERAGE
To achieve an effective campaign Twelve (12) critical corridors were selected in the six (6) Geo-political zones noted for high volume of vehicular movement during these periods. The campaign will involve deployment of Officers from SDER FRSC HQ and NRSP members to the selected corridors, who will serve as field personnel. They will liaise with the commands along the corridor to ensure a robust and impactful campaign.
OBJECTIVE OF THE CAMPAIGN
To achieve a drastic reduction in road traffic crash fatalities and serious injuries; To accomplish 2025 FRSC strategic goal for 10% reduction in Road traffic fatality and injuries through:
i. Sensitizations of fleet operations, drivers and park officials on proper road usage.
ii. Carry out “kill the Speed” Talk to drivers and commuters.
iii. Update fleet manager on travel risks assessment.
iv. Use stickers to convey to drivers and commuters the danger of over-speeding, Overloading, Drunk driving, Use of phone while driving, fatigue and effects of night journeys
v. Get the buy-in of fleet operators by the efforts of NRSP.
