Report on the installation of road sign and public enlightenment to students at Government Technical COLLEGE OSOGBO Sponsored by FRSC and NRSP, which are adjacent each other on Monday 15th MAY, 2023 at OSOGBO Town in OSUN STATE.
RS11.1 Osun Sector Command received DRC LO Oladimeji, RSHQ SDER Department representative who was on traffic Signs installation assignment in a School selected in Osun State, on Monday 15 May, 2023.
The Ag. Sector Commander DCC Olumide O Adebajo welcomed DRC LO Oladimeji to the Command assuring him that necessary arrangement had been put in place to ensure smooth execution of the project.
DRC LO Oladimeji was supported by FRSC team of RS11.1 Osun Sector command led by SRC SDER, RC SDER, CRMA Yomi Aladegbaye, Special Marshal Deputy State Coordinator, Special Marshal State Treasurer and Unit 13 Coordinator. The team left the Command at about 0900hrs to Government Technical College Osogbo, for the exercise.
The School Principal, Mr Tajudeen G Onifade was enthusiastic to receive FRSC team and Special Marshal representative. The Principal was briefed by RSHQ representative that the project was possible because of collaborative efforts of FRSC and Nigerian Road Safety Partnership who procured the traffic signs for Six Schools in Nigeria. The traffic signs are provided to inform motorists and riders about School presence. It is equally meant to caution them to slow down at Zebra Crossing.
In his responds, the School Principal lauded FRSC Management over the initiative. He appreciated the Corps for considering Government Technical College Osogbo as one of the beneficiary School. He further pointed to the fact that drivers and motorcyclists are cautioned to slow down their speed as they approach School environment even when Zebra Cross marks are no longer visible. Therefore, students Safety are enhance whenever they are crossing the road.
Thereafter, Teachers and Students were enlightened on basic pedestrians safety tips, traffic drills and later rounded up with practical demonstration on how Zebra Crossing is used by the Students.
The programme successfully came to an end at 1309hrs with commendation came from the School Management and members of the public.
